World Environment Day
On 6 June 2021 World Environment Day was celebrated at the tea garden factory of Durgapur T.E. A drawing competition was organized for the event. Around 60 students plant a tree in their houses and in community places in the line. The 16 students performed dance and 12 students delivered the speech on the occasion.
Rabha Divas Celebration
On 20th June 2021 Rabha Divas was celebrated at CPC of Durgapur T.E. 23 students took the part in the celebration. This day is celebrated to honor the well-known Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha. His contribution to the betterment of the state is always cherished, hence, people observe Rabha Divas on the 20th June of each and every year. The adolescent girls performed chorus on „Rabha Sangeet‟.
Independence Day
On 15th August 2021 Independence Day was observed at the CPC, Durgapur T.E. On the occasion, the Manager of Durgapur T.E., the Representatives of Bharatiya Cha Parishad, and 50 people of the Durgapur T.E. were present in the occasion.
The group dance program was the main attraction of the event. A total of 7 groups were performed; each group comprised of3 to 4 participants in the performance. The performances were based on patriotic songs. Solo dance was also part of the event. A total of 10 students performed on the occasion. The sports competition was another event that day. Running, Candy catching, and Marble on the spoon was played on that occasion. More than 40 students participated in the competition.
Art and Craft exhibition
On 20th November 2021 on the occasion of Universal Children‟s Day, BSA volunteers in collaboration with BCP (UNICEF) organized a one-day Art and Craft exhibition at Durgapur Tea Estate. Mrs. Kalpana Ranjan Chetia (Programme Manager, BCP-UNICEF), Mrs. Ritamoni Konwar (Sr. Program Coordinator BCP-UNICEF) Mr. Bikash Chanda (BCP-UNICEF), Washima Rahman (BCP-UNICEF), Ms. Padumi Nayak (BCP-UNICEF), Nasima Khatun(Multi Skill Counsellor from AMC), Mr. Dinesh Rai (employee of Durgapur T.E) and Mr. Manish Rai (Volunteer Bal Sakha Assam) along with 35 students‟ participants in the event.
The exhibited items included pen stands, pottery paintings, wall hanging from different paper cutting, paintings, etc. The items were made by the students of Durgapur T.E. Also the students executed a dance performance on physical and mental health rights as an awareness generation initiative. They also felicitated passing out class 10 and 12 students of the year 2020-21 with a tree sapling and a notebook. At the end of the event, the organizers awarded a tree sapling, a copy, and a pencil to each participant.
International Human Rights Day celebration
Bal Sakha Assam organized post-International Human Rights Celebrations on 12 December 2021. This day is observed to promote equality, peace, justice, freedom, and the protection of human dignity. The event was held at the Child Protection Centre (CPC) of Bal Sakha Assam situated at Durgapur Tea Estate. The program started with a Sports competition of the Children of Durgapur T.E. The sports event included various games, i.e.
- Musical chair competition
- Discus throw,
- Toffee race,
- Shot put
- Three-legged race. and
- 100m Race
Different age groups of children both boys and girls actively participated in the competitions. In this meeting, Mr. Dinesh Rai (Secretary of CPC), Ms. Padumi Nayak (Program Facilitator, BCP-Unicef), Ms. Lalita Gowala (Anganwadi Worker), Ms. Lilanti (CPC member), and three local guardians Ms. Jaya Kachari, Ms. Rumoni Kachari, and Ms. Rima Karmakar, the volunteers from BSA, i.e., Ms. Anamika Hazarika (Academic Leader), Mr. Manabjyoti Sensua (Academic Counsellor), Ms. Upasana Gogoi (Documentation Lead), Mr. Manish Rai (Animator Of BSA) along with 51 students were present. BSA Academic counselor, the children of Durgapur T.E. performed the dance on the occasion. Six groups of girls performed in both Assamese and Hindi songs.
Clothes Distribution
Bal Sakha Assam extends its support to disadvantaged groups of society. The periodic Cloth collection drive is conducted by the BSA team which is thereafter distributed to the needful and underprivileged families of Mohunbaree T.E., Manohari T.E., and Durgapur T.E.
Donation of used clothes: On 7th October 2021, Dr. Sneha Roy Choudhury, MBBS of Gangapara, Dibrugarh donated clothes for the deprived families.
