ABOUT US

Bal Sakha Assam

Bal Sakha Assam is a non-profit NGO, incorporated since January 2010 under Society Registration Act 1860. From 2011 to 2016 CRY supported the Bal Sakha Assam with the project “To Improve the Child Right Status of the Children of the Tea Garden and Rural Villages of Dibrugarh District”.
At first, we started some life skill training, i.e. food processing and preservation, creative decoration and fabric painting, etc. among the marginalized section of the society. One hundred and five (105) women/ adolescent girls have been trained. Meanwhile, CRY awarded a fellowship to Dr. Aditya Kr. Chatterjee, the secretary of Bal Sakha Assam, to document ‘the status of the child rights in the state of Assam’. With this opportunity, the organization came to know about the status of child rights in the different areas of Assam. A rapport was also built-up with different state-level agencies, which may help us in future activities.
Since the organization’s inception, we’re tirelessly working to promote health and education, human development, and the well-being of the deprived particularly those being excluded from the present development model and rapid economic growth. Community-based activities on education and health for the development of children of tea garden community and rural

Assam along with empowerment and skill development of adolescents and women are the priority. Research and writing on the subjects like Child rights, education, and health issues, like MMR, CMR, malnutrition, etc. is regular activity to achieving our objectives.

Our prevention work is located in rural areas and tea gardens where impoverished children and families are supported and empowered to create a safe environment for children.
We envision the creation of a child-friendly environment through community-based activities across rural areas and tea gardens of Assam.
